Law Library Resources from Home (and Beyond!)

If you’re unable to visit the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library in person, never fear – the Law Library has a wide variety of remote databases, downloadable publications, and other online resources that are accessible from anywhere you can connect to the internet.

Remote access to legal databases, including Westlaw for All, EBSCO, and the LexisNexis Digital Library, is available on the Law Library’s website. The Law Library’s blog Ex Libris Juris is an excellent source of Law Library news, featured resources, and other useful and interesting legal information. Delve deeper into legal history and topics of interest by browsing the Law Library’s digital exhibits. You may also search the Law Library’s catalog online to see what print resources are available and plan your next visit to the Law Library.

 The Law Library has published several resource guides and informational handouts that may be downloaded and printed from the website for free. Start your legal research by browsing resource guides on common topics in the law.

Need legal advice? The Community Legal Resources handout is available in both English and Spanish with the contact information of local legal aid organizations, lawyer referral services, and government agencies in Harris County. Further community resource handouts are available on the Law Library’s website here. These handouts provide contact information for hotlines, services, and advocacy organizations that serve specific communities in Harris County.

The Pro Se Litigant Handbook lists self-help legal resources available in Harris County and is available in five languages (English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, and Farsi).
