About the Library
Our Mission
The Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library is a public library that serves the legal information needs of self-represented litigants, legal professionals, the judiciary, and county and other governmental officials. Public access to legal information is a critical component of open and equal access to the justice system. The Hainsworth Law Library’s mission is to provide all of its patrons access to relevant, current, accurate, and practical legal information in the most appropriate and cost-effective formats possible and to provide educational opportunities designed to enhance patrons’ understanding of legal information and how it is accessed.

The Hainsworth Law Library is committed to providing free access to a comprehensive legal research and reference collection, in print and digital formats, and offering educational programs for all patrons. Leadership
Andre Davison serves as the Director of the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library. The library is a division of the Office of the Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee.
Hours
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that the library is closed on Harris County observed holidays.

Location & Parking Information

Street Parking

Parking Garages and Lots
Several parking garages and lots are available to the public within walking distance of the library. For information on parking locations, visit Downtown Houston+. The website also provides public transportation options for moving around downtown.
METRO Park & Ride
Houston METRO offers a variety of options that let you park your car conveniently outside of downtown and then ride METRORail or a bus downtown. The METRORail Red Line stops at the Preston Street Station just one block away from the library, and several bus lines have stops along Congress Street near the library entrance.
