Court rules define the procedure by which a court operates and conducts its business. They are conditions that all litigants must follow and address matters, such as filing deadlines and requirements, grounds for appeals, etc. Note that court rules vary by jurisdiction. Thus, the rules used in the federal courts may be different from those followed in Texas. Similarly, Texas court rules may be different from those used in other states. Some local courts, such as the Justice of the Peace Courts, also have their own rules.
